Cross Cars are rear-engined, single-seat buggies built around a multitubular space-frame chassis. They race wheel-to-wheel on short circuits that mix tarmac and loose dirt, and they are especially popular in Europe, with a growing following in America.
The FIA Cross Car sits at the top of a ladder that starts with drivers as young as six. Its 850cc Yamaha MT-09 engine, the same unit that powers Legends cars worldwide, produces 120 horsepower. In a car weighing just 345 kilograms, that is more than enough for rapid lap times on any surface.
The car has proven itself in the real world, winning the FIA European Cross Car Championship with David Méat and making regular podium appearances across rallycross series.
In the Cup, every competitor drives the same car with the same setup, so the result comes down to the driver.
